BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Local civic leaders and elected officials gathered at the Boston Children's Museum Tuesday to celebrate a major milestone for the state's "Card to Culture" program.

The program grants people with WIC, EBT, or ConnectorCare cards free or deeply discounted access to cultural institutions across the state. More than 600 cultural intuitions across Massachusetts participate, including the American Reparatory Theater in Cambridge, the USS Constitution Museum in Charlestown, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

The Massachusetts Cultural Council threw the party Tuesday at the Children's Museum to celebrate the program's 3 millionth admission.

Among the attendees were Department of Transitional Assistance Commissioner Michael Cole and Democratic State Reps. Sean Garballey and Steven Owens.
